Louise Granville-Smith and Keith Shaddick
On 31st October 1998 at St. Brannock's Parish Church, Braunton,
Devon followed by a receptiona at The Woolacombe Bay Hotel.

I woke up in my old bedroom at my Mum and Dad's on the morning of our wedding and looked out of the window to lashing rain. I was so disappointed, but decided there and then it would spoil nothing.

I sat in bed and opened my card and present from Keith. He had bought me a gorgeous gold bracelet. Here the smile started, and stayed all day!

After a nice hot bath and a quick breakfast, my hairdresser arrived at 8.30 to begin creating my coiffured masterpiece. It went up perfectly first time and I breathed a sigh of relief, it looked gorgeous! By this time, my sister (bridesmaid 1) had got up and Keith's sister, Jan (bridesmaid 2) had arrived and had started to have their hair done by the second hairdresser.

I was amazingly calm whilst all this was going on and it wasn't until I did my make-up and got dressed, did the nerves really set in!

The photographer arrived half an hour early which set everyone into a premature panic, but we all got there in the end. We all had fun posing for photographs in the lounge whilst drinking champagne and having to look out at the rain beating against the patio doors!

Unfortunately I arrived at the church a quarter of an hour late due to the bridal car stalling whilst delivering Mum and bridesmaids at the church! Luckily Keith and everyone waited for me and the ceremony went like a dream.

As the rain was unrelenting, the vicar kindly allowed us to take some photographs in the church, which was great as we got some fantastic photos which captured all the beautiful flowers.

After a hurried sprint to the car under a multitude of umbrellas, we set off to the Woolacombe Bay for our reception. I was worried that the car wouldn't make it through all the flooded roads, but luck stayed with us and we got there, eventually!

We finished the photographs in one of the lounges of the hotel and my little niece was even allowed to throw confetti, which provided some unusual shots! Everyone was having a whale of a time and spirits were high as we all made the best of the day despite the weather. I felt like a princess on cloud nine and have never felt happier or more in love in all my life.

The reception room looked fantastic, especially with all the candles lit and the flower decorations my Mum had created. It was turning into a very dark afternoon, and I was really pleased how sophisticated, but cosy it all looked. The meal was fabulous and it was nice how many people commented to us on the quality and quantity!

The speeches after dinner went down really well, and the best man's was absolutely hilarious! Everyone who spoke to us afterwards said it was the best speech they had ever heard.

We had about an hour and a half to relax after the meal, which was extremely welcomed, as I was exhausted already!

The evening reception started at 7.30 and was a really great party, although some guests couldn't make it because of the extremely bad weather and floods! Keith and I had intended leaving the party at about 11, but as we were having such a good time, we ended up staying until the end!

We had a couple of days at home after the wedding before we flew off to St. Lucia on our honeymoon, which was the best holiday I have ever had!!

Do Differently: Absolutely nothing, it was the most beautiful and perfect day of my life.
