Are
you having a civil wedding ceremony? Do you fancy walking down the
aisle to Abba rather than Beethoven? Does the idea of a classical
accompaniment to your nuptials make you feel uncomfortable and 'proper'?
Never fear, Wedding Guide is here.
Choosing the right music for your civil ceremony is a completely personal
decision but some couples feel restricted by traditional classical
music or love songs. When picking your tracks, think about the meaning
of the lyrics, see if it is associated with an advert or for a TV
programme that isn't appropriate for a wedding and whether you want
upbeat, slow and smoochy or amusing music as your aural memory of
the day. Although a wedding is a serious event there is no harm in
having a bit of fun w ith your ditties, but Tammy Wynette's D.I.V.O.R.C.E
may be somewhat inappropriate!
With the help of several Forumites and lots of off-key singing at
our desks, we have compiled a list of over 100 suggested tracks from
various styles of music including pop, easy listening, instrumental,
film and TV soundtracks to inspire you.
Do remember that whatever music you choose must first be agreed to
by the Superintendent Registrar:
If you prefer instrumental music then you may well find instrumental
versions of your favourite songs. Here are a few non-classical recommendations
for instrumental:
Aspects of Love - Love
Changes Everything
Phantom
of the Opera - All I Ask of You
It is not necessary to have smoochy love songs to express your feelings
for each other, why not up the tempo and have a lively, fun song
that is bound to put a smile on your face and dry up your tears
of emotion?
