Wedding Stationery Guide

Wedding stationery can be bought from a number of sources: mail order, printers, stationers and stationery designers or you can buy online from Confetti's range of wedding stationery.

The range of items and styles is vast and it would be all too easy to get carried away. You may expect to simply choose the wedding invitation style you want, have it printed and supplied with matching envelopes and you are away. Certainly in some cases this may be so but wait until you see the range of invitations, order of service sheets, menu cards, place name cards and seating plans on offer – you may not be able to resist!

It should also be said that many of these items provide delightful keepsakes and at least some are worth considering. They can also provide a wonderful way of continuing a theme for your wedding day.

Wedding invitations

Wedding invitations are available in virtually any design you choose and you even have the option of having your invitation personalised. Don’t forget that you will need separate invitations for those being invited to the evening reception only and there is also the option of including RSVP cards together with printed envelopes.

Wedding stationery items

Once you have chosen the theme of your wedding stationery you can continue the same design throughout your reception with tableware that will perfectly match the style of your invitations and can add a sense of sophistication to your celebrations.

Order of service sheets

These usually take the form of a folded card, with or without a paper insert. The cover of the sheet will conventionally have the names of the bride and groom printed in the bottom left and right hand corners respectively. The date and name of the venue in which the service is to take place will be centred in the middle of the page. The actual layout of the service sheet will depend on the style of the ceremony and couples should seek advice from their minister before making final arrangements for having the sheets printed.

The benefit of order of service sheets is that the congregation can follow the service without having to juggle with hymn and prayer books.

It is always sensible to have a few extra service sheets printed for unexpected guests. Make sure you include the minister, choir and the attendants when calculating the number required.

Menus

f there is a choice of meal at the reception, menu cards may be printed for the guests but you should not feel obliged to provide them. If you are on a tight budget for your wedding, you can also print your own menu cards as an alternative.

Place name cards

Place cards can be useful so that guests know where to sit at the reception. You can print your own place cards and co-ordinate them with your stationery to help your guests know where to sit at the wedding party.

Seating plans

In addition to place name cards, an overall seating plan is usually prepared so that guests know the general location of their seats as they enter the dining room.

Enjoy it!

Finding, printing or even making your own wedding stationery can be one of the most fun parts of your entire wedding process so remember to plan properly and enjoy it!
