Family Ties
by Timothy Lennox

Family ties…
Are strong indeed,
A good-hearted family
Is all you need.

People in this world
Will try to tear it apart,
But a family is with you
From the very start.

Some families are big
And some are small,
But when you’re with family
You feel ten feet tall.

Nothing can hurt you
When your family is true,
But just remember
Your family needs you too.

In good times and bad
And feeling blue,
Just remember one thing
Your family is with you.

Don’t think for a second
That one minute goes by
When your family isn’t there
Standing by your side.

Your family loves you,
Yes they do,
But how you treat them
Is up to you.

Love them, care for them,
Do what is right
And they will be there
Morning, noon and night.

Now I have
One last thing to do,
And to my family I say:
I will always love you.

Our Family
Author unknown

Our family is a circle of love and strength.
With every birth and every union, the circle grows.
Every joy shared adds more love.
Every obstacle together makes the circle stronger.

Your Wedding Day
by Frances Garrett Baumgardener

Each has travelled another road,
Each established another abode,
Suffered long from another love,
Endured estrangement from the above.

A new relationship now found,
To a new abode you are now bound,
May your love continue with joy,
Estrangement seek not to employ.

Many things will soon come between,
Which are now unable to be seen,
If you pledge to each other first,
Nothing can cause your deep love to burst.

Family will be a big part
Of your lives, but if you are both smart,
They cannot, must not break your bond
Or influence that directing wand.

Stepmothers In Most Fairy Tales
Author unknown

Stepmothers in most fairy tales
Are wicked to stepdaughters.
When they’re around it never fails:
They give the meanest orders.

The fairy tales never put
The shoe upon the other foot
And ask how daughters sometimes treat
Stepmothers on this two-way street.

In fairy tales stepdaughters are
Invariably meek,
No matter how the mothers spar
The daughters hardly speak.

In real life daughters sometimes won’t
Give stepmothers a chance and don’t
Behave the way they should, as I
Have done to you (I don’t know why).

In the end, in fairy tales,
The daughter gets the Prince.
The jealous mother moans and wails,
Reviled ever since.

And in the, in our real life,
I’m glad you are my father’s wife
Whatever myths our fancies move
It feels so good to have your love!

A Father’s Fiancée
by Michael Praetorius

A father’s fiancée is
An intended mother.
More than two are joined
This day in joy.
Though two may blossom
By the winged bay’s fountain,
Other flowers are watered
By that love.
