Hands and Feet Treatments

Manicures
If you are only going to have one beauty treatment before your wedding, make it a manicure.

During your appointment the therapist will remove any old polish. She will then start by trimming your nails to your desired length before filing them smooth. The shape of your nails depends on the shape of your fingers. Ideally, the tip of the nail should mirror the shape of your nail base.

Next, she will apply cuticle cream to the base of each nail on one hand, massaging it in before placing it in warm, soapy water to help the cuticles. She will then do the same for your other hand. While the second hand is soaking, she will work on the cuticles of the first hand, using small circular movements with an orange stick to push them back. Any dead skin around the nail will be removed at the same time.

After repeating the procedure on your second hand, the therapist will apply hand cream to both hands, giving them a good massage. If you would like polish, any grease is removed from the nails with varnish remover. After applying a base coat to protect the nail plate, two coats of colour, followed by a top coat is applied. It is best to let your hands dry naturally – don’t shake them around as you may get ‘bubbling’ in the colour.

Paraffin Wax Treatments for Hands and Feet

This is a localised heat treatment that can be used on different parts of the body; usually the hands and feet, but it can also treat the whole body in a bath. This treatment, which softens and cleanses the skin, stimulates circulation, is great for dry hands and especially good for the feet.

A full body paraffin wax will make you perspire, helping rid the body of excess waste and toxins. It can be used in conjunction with other slimming treatments.

Your hands or feet will be placed inside a container and wax will be ladled over. The temperature of the wax is controlled so that it is runny, but not too hot. There are also specially designed thermostatically controlled plunge baths, in which you will be asked simply to immerse your hands or feet.

After several coatings of wax, your hands or feet will be covered in a warm towel and left for between 10 and 15 minutes. Finally, the therapist will peel off the wax and run cold water on them for a few minutes.

The treatment takes about half-an-hour and leaves your skin silky smooth and soft. It is a true beauty treatment and perfect for pampering those often neglected feet, in preparation for your big day.

Reflexology
An ancient massage technique, which involves pressing reflex points on your feet to detect and treat problem areas all over your body. Putting pressure on the corresponding part of the foot can treat many complaints and inexplicable symptoms. This treatment is also great for relaxation and boosting energy.
