 How do I post a message?Simply go to the bottom of forum page and enter your details in the new message windows. You need to enter your name, e-mail address, a subject heading and your message. You then click on the Preview Message button, which allows you to check your message before posting. Click on your brower's Back button if you want to amend your message. Once you are happy with your message, just click on the Post Your Message button. Why didn't my message show up on the forum page?Your message most likely did not show up because your browser did not reload the forum page, it simply recalled it from your computer's memory (cache). Just click on your browser's Reload or Refresh button and it will appear. Will I be notified if someone responds to my message?Yes, the system automatically generates an e-mail to you advising you that a reponse has been posted. How long are messages left on the forum? The time that the first message of a 'thread' of messages stays on the forum depends upon how large the forum page gets. We try to keep the forum page no greater than about 150kb in size, so that the download time is not excessive. Why does the system 'hang' when I click on the Post
Message button?Occasionally, the forum program gets 'stuck' resulting in the system 'hanging'. However, your message will have been posted. If you are in any doubt, you can check to see if your message has been posted by returning to the forum page. Please note, you may need to refresh the forum page, by clicking on your browser's Reload orRefresh button, to see your message. Can I mention company names in my messages?Yes you can, particularly if you have something good to say or wish to let someone know about a company's products or services. However, any messages that contain any potentially libellous or defamatory remarks are not permitted. Why can't I type a long subject heading?There is a limit of 60 characters for the subject heading. This is to prevent the forum page from getting too large with long subject headings, particularly when there are responses posted as the subject heading is repeated on each response. How does the search facility work? At present, the search facility will only find matches for the exact word or phrase you enter. For example, if you enter wedding dress, the search program will return all messages that contain this exact phrase, includingwedding dresses as it also contains the phrase wedding dress. What should I do if I see an abusive message on the
forum?Please e-mail us at Abuse@WeddingGuideUK.com Do not respond by posting a response to the message. The person posting the message is seeking attention. Don't give the abuser the satisfaction of knowing that you have been irritated by the message - just let us know about it and then ignore it. What should I do if I receive abusive e-mail?Forward the e-mail to the abuse section of your ISP (Internet service provider). Address your e-mail to abuse@your_ISP's_name e.g. abuse@freeserve.co.uk. If your e-mail is handled by your own company's server, forward the e-mail to your IT manager. Also forward a copy to Abuse@WeddingGuideUK.com so we can try to identify the person responsible. You can then delete the message. What should I do if I receive unsolicited e-mail?Forward the e-mail to Abuse@WeddingGuideUK.com, we will then contact the company and report them to their ISP. If you use e-mail software that can have rules applied to incoming e-mail (e.g. Microsoft Outlook), set up a rule that will automatically delete subsequent e-mails. Then delete the message. What does HTH and H2B mean in messages?Abbreviations such as HTH (hope this helps) and H2B (husband to be) are frequently used in messages to save typing.
