Grenada


Grenada lies ninety-seven kilometres (60 miles) southwest of St. Vincent and 145 kilometres (90) miles north of Trinidad, in the southernmost part of the Windward Islands.
This picturesque island is blessed with some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful scenery combined with stunning white sand beaches. Regarded as the most special island in the Caribbean, Grenada is famous for its spices, tropical mountain forest beautiful beaches and boasts pretty tropical gardens and hillsides that are a naturalist’s paradise!

Documents and Legal requirements
Residency: The minimum residency before you can apply for a marriage licence is 3 working days, excluding weekends and bank holidays. Application for a licence can then be made at the Prime Minister’s Office. (See Obtaining Your Licence).
Proof of ID: Your Original Birth Certificates and valid 10-year passports are required. Also you must provide your full names, addresses, occupations and religions plus those of your parents.
Proof of status: An affidavit, or a letter from a clergyman, lawyer, or Registrar on official letterhead attesting to the fact that you have not been married before or are free to marry.
Divorced: If you are divorced your Decree Absolute with court stamp is required.
Widowed: If you are widowed you must provide the death certificate of your deceased spouse.
Name change: If your name has been changed by Deed Poll you must provide legal proof, stamped and signed by a solicitor. This also applies if a married woman has reverted back to her maiden name.
Adoption: If you are adopted the adoption certificate is required.
Age limit: If you are aged under 21 years parental consent is required in the form of an affidavit, stamped and signed by a solicitor.
Fees: Licence and stamp fees and copies of marriage certificate costs EC$35.

Ceremonies
In Grenada you may be married by a Magistrate or a Minister, the choice is yours as is the location. You can choose from many locations including a chapel, beach or simply in the grounds of your hotel.

Obtaining a marriage licence
Application for a licence should be made at the Prime Minister’s Office after the necessary stamp duty and licence fees have been paid. This process takes approximately two days (slightly longer if either of you is divorced, as your documents must then be sent to The Ministry of Legal Affairs). See further Information)
