Weddings Abroad - The Caribbean
and Hawaii
To quickly find what you want in Weddings Abroad just use this drop down menu:

St. Kitts & Nevis

St. Kitts is part of the northern chain of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean covering an area of 176 square kilometres (68 square miles). The island is divided by three volcanic mountains split by deep ravines and a low-lying peninsula in the southeast. A little off the beaten track, with an unhurried way of life and a welcome unrivalled in the Caribbean, St. Kitts offers just about everything except the crowds. The island is scenically and historically fascinating and, although quiet, it does have some excellent restaurants and a casino.
Just a two mile ferry ride away, Nevis offers the real Caribbean where exploring is limited, so total relaxation is the order of the day.

How to get your marriage licence
There are two types of marriage licences that are available on the islands: a) Ordinary Licence: one of you has to be resident in St. Kitts or Nevis for 15 days preceding the date of the application for the licence. b) Special Licence: one of you has to be resident in St. Kitts or Nevis for two working days prior to the date of your wedding. Application forms for the licence must be obtained from the legal department on the islands (see further information for addresses). The cost of the licences is: Special Licence: EC$200 and EC$50 for the Ordinary Licence. Payment is made in the form of stamp duty and the stamps may be purchased at Post Office Bay Road, Basseterre, St, Kitts and Post Office Main Street, Charlestown, Nevis.

The application forms must completed and signed in the presence of a Justice of Peace (see Further Information for contact details) and the cost for their services varies between EC$30-50. The completed forms must then be returned to the Legal Department and the whole process will take two working days.
